This 4.1 million year old mandible cast fossil, KNM-KP 29281, comes from Australopithecus anamensis, an early human species that lived near open areas and dense woods. This specimen is a cast of the partial lower jaw with teeth discovered in 1994. One side of the cast jaw measures 8 cm x 4.5 cm. The other side measures 9 cm x 4 cm.
