Sugar Plant Hunting in New Guinea (1930, 64 min., Papua New Guinea) by the United States Department of Agriculture.

This film chronicles the 1928 US Department of Agriculture’s New Guinea Sugarcane Expedition which sought to locate disease-resistant varieties of sugarcane in New Guinea using an airplane. Shot by Dr. E. W. Brandes and Richard Peck, the film chronicles the expedition and gives insight into various localities in what is now Papua New Guinea.  Discussion to follow the film.
