Description

Using techniques perfected by museum collectors over a century ago, NMNH specimen preparators preserve specimens that can be used for morphological study, state-of-the-art scanning, and genomics research. Meet museum specialist Brian Schmidt and collections manager Chris Milensky from the Division of Birds, who will demonstrate this important but underappreciated art form and discuss how the specimens are prepared, stored, and used in modern research.

This program provides opportunities for museum visitors to have informal conversations with the scientist, and is not a formal lecture.
